Lynnwood Transportation Benefit District Board schedules Public Hearing regarding possible ballot measure

great dealThe Lynnwood Transportation Benefit District (TBD) Board has scheduled a Public Hearing during a special meeting that is scheduled for Wednesday July 8.

The Public Hearing will be to solicit citizens’ comments on transportation funding status and needs. The Board is considering a ballot measure to fund transportation improvements and maintenance. The measure likely would include a sales tax increase and a decrease in vehicle tab fees and be placed on the fall general election ballot.

The TBD’s Proposition 1, which would have raised sales tax 0.2 percent, failed by a 53-47 percent margin last November.

The Board may choose to take action following the Public Hearing. A proposal that has drawn some support from Boardmembers would increase the sales tax by 0.15 percent and eliminate the current $20 vehicle tab fee.

The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 19100 44th Ave. W., Lynnwood.
