Time is running out to sign up for Lynnwood University

Firefighters demonstrate the jaws of life to Lynnwood University students.

The deadline to register for Lynnwood University is just over a week away.

Lynnwood University is a free nine-week program that gives residents a behind-the-scenes look at city programs and services. Department heads, staff, the city council and the mayor will teach about city government, its operations and how to access services.

Some of the highlights include trying on firefighting gear, learning how code enforcement works, touring the award-winning waste water treatment plant and learning about the city’s budget process.

The program meets from 7 to 9:30 p.m. each Thursday between Sept. 9 and Nov. 4, 2010.

You can sign up for Lynnwood University online or by calling 425-670-5023. Registration closes Friday, Sept. 3.

Students try on firefighting gear and tour the fire station bay.
  1. Can we afford this now? $60.000 plus overtime for staff? If Police and Fire are going to be cut, then this should really go for now.
