Lynnwood took first place in Division III at the 48th annual Washington State Bowling Proprietors’ Association state high school varsity bowling championships Feb. 17 at the Acme Bowl in Tukwila.
The Royals scored 48 points to finish ahead of Kentlake, which had 41. Lynnwood was coached by Charlie Pascoe.
The Meadowdale girls team was one of four recipients of the Don Peek Inspirational team award for outstanding sportsmanship. The Mavericks finished fourth. In addition, Edmonds-Woodway coach Terry Rea, whose team placed third in Division III, was inducted into the WSBPA Coaches Hall of Fame.
Lynnwood’s Merrek Mason earned first-team honors. Teammates Michael Kim and Ben Jaworski were second-team selections. Edmonds-Woodway’s Levi Ligier and Ellis Jones also were named to the second team. Mountlake Terrace’s Becky Davidson earned first-team girls recognition.
Twenty-eight five-person teams competed along with 50 bowlers in the state singles championship.
