A 20-year-old woman apparently took her own life in a public restroom at Alderwood Mall this morning.

About 10:20 a.m., a friend of the woman notified mall security when she didn’t come out of the restroom. They opened the locked door and found her deceased inside. Fire department paramedics responded to the scene and tried to revive her but could not.

While the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the cause of death, there was no evidence of foul play.

Police did not release the woman’s identity other than saying she has ties to California.
