A man in his 50s was injured in a duplex fire east of Lynnwood Thursday evening.
A resident in the neighboring duplex unit reported the fire about 5:10 p.m. in the 19900 block of Filbert Road in unincorporated Snohomish County. “The neighbor saw smoke coming from the back of the unit where the man lived,” said Leslie Hynes, public information officer for Snohomish County Fire District 1.
A Snohomish County Sheriff’s Deputy arrived at the scene before firefighters and kicked in the door and pulled the man from the smoke-filled unit. Firefighters transported the man to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital. His injuries were serious, but did not appear to be life-threatening.
Firefighters from Fire Districts and 7, Bothell and Lynnwood responded to the fire and kept the fire contained to a small area around the stove top. The neighboring duplex unit was not damaged.
