A man who police say was likely drunk and high on meth committed several crimes before ultimately being tased and arrested near the 7-11 on the Lynnwood/Mountlake Terrace border Wednesday afternoon.
Our friends at MLTnews.com have the details:
The suspect, a man in his 20′s, and his friend were picked up by a cab near Highway 99 and 220th Wednesday afternoon. The cab driver drove the two men to somewhere near 7-11 at 52nd Ave W and 212th St SW where police say the suspect threatened the cab driver with a knife and refused to pay his cab fare.
The cab driver pulled over at 7-11, called his dispatch who called 9-11 to alert police to the incident. Police say the two men exited the cab and entered 7-11 where the suspect continued to make a scene, attempting to pick a fight with a patron in line and knocking over displays in the store. This resulted in another 9-11 call, this time by the 7-11 employee.
As police arrived on the scene there were many people standing around. Mountlake Terrace police noticed that a man (the suspect) was walking off and proceeded to ask the man to stop. The suspect resisted and refused to stop. Assitant Chief Caw with the MLT PD said that officers shot the suspect with a taser, the suspect fell to the ground and was ultimately arrested and taken to jail.
Caw said that it appeared as if the man had been up for some time and was likely high on meth and drunk. The suspect’s friends cooperated with police.
