Man injured in house fire east of Lynnwood

Update: Investigators say this house fire was caused by a burning candle placed too close to a Christmas tree. It caused more than $50,000 damage.

A 55-year-old man was injured after fire broke out at a home east of Lynnwood on Christmas night.

It started around 8:15 p.m. in the 17100 block of 18th Place West in the Martha Lake area. Several people were inside the home at the time.

Medics took one man to Swedish Edmonds with smoke inhalation. His condition did not appear to be life threatening and there were no other injuries.

The fire was contained to the living room, but there was smoke damage throughout the two-story house. The cause is under investigation.
