Mavs, Warriors sports notes

The Meadowdale Mavericks will get to compete for a district boys soccer championship one day earlier than previous scheduled thanks to a school dance.

The District 1 3A Boys Soccer Tournament championship match pitting the No. 2-seed Mavs against No. 1-seed Marysville-Pilchuck Tomahawks had been slated to take place on Saturday, May 11. But the game has been rescheduled for Friday, May 10, as the Marysville-Pilchuck High School prom is taking place on Saturday.

Moving the game to Friday so that Tomahawk players could attend the school’s prom on Saturday was agreed upon by Meadowdale and M-P coaches.

The Meadowdale – Marysville-Pilchuck district championship match will kickoff at 5 p.m. at Shoreline Stadium.

The Mavs (13-5-0 this season) and Tomahawks (16-1-1) have already qualified for the WIAA 3A State Boys Soccer Tournament that begins next week; the brackets for the state tourney are expected to be finalized on Sunday.
