All four Edmonds School District high schools that offer interscholastic team sports placed in the top half of a ranking of 3A schools that recognizes both sports achievements and the academic performances of its student athletes.
The WIAA / Washington Army National Guard Scholastic Cup calculates school performance both on the athletic field and in the classroom. Points are awarded on a graduated scale for schools that qualify for and earn top spots at WIAA State athletic competitions; points are also given for how the sports teams do academically.
Point totals can also be affected by sportsmanship, as points are deducted from a school if it has three or more of its student athletes ejected from contests during the school year.
The Edmonds-Woodway Warriors placed 15th in the 3A classification rankings for the 2015-2016 school year. Meadowdale finished 23rd, Mountlake Terrace tied for 28th with O’Dea, and Lynnwood landed in 30th place.
