Meadowdale Middle School receives grant to teach financial literacy

BECU has awarded a grant to Meadowdale Middle School to help teach kids about money and the economy.

The money will go towards implementing an online program called Civic Mirror. It educates students on how to run an imaginary society complete with decision-making challenges.

The grant was one of 48 awarded to local schools.

“BECU School Grants allow us to support programs that can have a positive impact on the lives of students, but lack funding needed to make them a reality,” said Tom Berquist, Senior VP of Member Strategies. “It means a lot to BECU to be able to support schools in providing tools, experiences and resources to help give kids the best education possible.”

BECU received about 600 grant applications and narrowed it down to 48 recipients.
