Now that the school year is over, crews have started to demolish the old Meadowdale Middle School.
Students will start using the new building this fall, which is located just west and behind the old school. Demolition is scheduled to be completed before the end of the month.
The new two-story facility will serve about 750 seventh and eighth graders. It includes personalized learning communities, wireless Internet, gymnasiums with separate community access, and a manufacturing shop and drafting lab.
Exterior features include an outdoor learning area, multi-use field, trails, amphitheater, student gardens and a plaza.
The school is funded through the voter-approved 2006 Construction Bond.
I hope this isn’t the same crew that tore down the old Lynnwood High School. That bunch had a problem with safely disposing of asbestos.
