What was happening in your life when “Footloose” by Dean Pitchford hit the big screen, then Broadway; and “Let’s Hear It For the Boy” by Deniece Williams was soaring on Billboard’s Hot 100?
Well, the Meadowdale High School troupe is bringing back those days in a full production of this popular stage and screen hit.
We’ve been following the Facebook page of the Meadowdale Players and the word has hit the street that tickets for Footloose are going fast, and furious.
From the Playbill: This is a story of self-discovery and coming of age: Ren McCormack and his mother, Ethel, have moved from Chicago to a small farming town. As the play opens Ren is preparing for the adjustment to his new high school.
“What he isn’t prepared for are the local laws – including a ban on dancing – which are the brainchild of a local preacher bent on exercising control over the town’s youths.
When the Reverend’s rebellious daughter sets her heart on Ren, her boyfriend tries to sabotage Ren’s reputation and many of the locals are eager to believe the worst about the new kid.”
Who doesn’t want to see how this talented theatre company handles the choreography, the retro-styles and the music.
A ticket grab is taking place at this online ticket box office: mhsfootloose.brownpapertickets.com.
