Police arrested a 24-year-old Lynwood man last night after he stole a woman’s of her purse near 168th and Highway 99.
The 37-year-old woman was walking home from her bus stop when the thief surprised her from behind and grabbed her purse off shoulder, then ran off.
Lynnwood Today reader Daniel S. saw the whole thing go down.
“I heard a female screeching repeatedly. Thinking it was just people messing around, which happens frequently there, I didn’t bother looking immediately. When I did look I saw a woman jumping and pointing down the street in the direction of Meadowdale Apartments. Then a security car bolted from the parking lot in that direction,” he told us.
The security guard caught up with the suspect and tackled him to the ground in the 4800 block of 168th Street SW. He detained him until police arrived.
“Two minutes later there were at least eight police cars by the Meadowdale Apartments,” Daniel said.
The woman wasn’t injured during the robbery. The suspect was booked into the Lynnwood Jail for second degree robbery.
