Can you help two Meadowdale Elementary teachers attend a Washington , D.C. conference on special education and the arts this summer?
Jennifer Martin and Kelly Hui are both special education teachers at Meadowdale Elementary School in Lynnwood: Martin is the Primary Intensive Support teacher (grades 1-3) and Hui is the Intermediate Intensive Support teacher (grades 4-6). These students have significant cognitive, language, behavioral, and sensory needs.
The two teachers have been selected to present with a team of four alongside with professors at Seattle Pacific University at a national conference: “Intersections: Arts and and Special Education Conference” at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington D.C. on Aug. 7-8. This is a unique conference, which presents practices, policies and research at the forefront of serving students with disabilities through arts and special education. Martin (music) and Hui (dance) will share their expertise with others, but they will also attend other presentations to gain knowledge and share innovating ways to engage our students and to increase their participation in the learning process back to Meadowdale Elementary School.

All costs — flight, registration, lodging, etc. — must be covered by the teachers, who must register for the conference, fly to DC, and find accommodations (the hotel associated with the conference is giving the rate of $150/night, rental car, parking fees of $30/day).
