Nearly two dozen Snohomish County police officers — including some from Lynnwood P.D. — are working this Memorial Day weekend during special DUI emphasis patrols.
With the long holiday weekend, as well as proms and graduations, police say they’ll have zero tolerance for underage drinking, driving under the influence, speeding or not wearing a seatbelt.
“Making these poor choices causes the most deaths on our highways,” said Snohomish County Executive Aaron Reardon. “We want a fatality free holiday as well as a fatality free graduation and prom season in Snohomish County.”
The patrols are paid for by a grant from the Washington Traffic Safety Commission.
