Military Wire: Code Fellows launches $250k Tech Workforce Diversity scholarship fund for veterans

The timing of the $250,000 Tech Workforce Diversity Scholarship Fund for Veterans offered by Seattle-based coding boot camp Code Fellows couldn’t be better.

Washington State Gov. Jay Inslee recently announcedthe formation of a subcabinet on military downsizing to address possible reductions in military force in the state. While the size of those cuts have not been officially announced, there will be more displaced defense sector contractors and veterans looking for their “next mission” in the coming months.

Code Fellows just might be the right next mission that comes with the potential of a scholarship, a guarantee that if you don’t get a job within ninr months of graduating, you get money back, and the strong chance the job you land will pay around $75,600, which is the average salary of those who graduate from the program.

Improving the diversity of the talent pool not only leads to better products and more effective teams for employers but it helps position Veterans into a long-term, financially beneficial and sustainable career.

The deadline for the scholarships available for the upcoming July 6 and Aug. 3 class starts has passed, but interested applicants are still encouraged to apply.
