Marcel W. Helland, an Edmonds Community College music student, will be featured in a student spotlight recital at 7:30 p.m., Monday, Nov. 4. at the school’s Black Box Theatre.
Helland will be playing nine different saxophones, including the contrabass, of which there are only 40 in the world, and the soprillo saxophone, the world’s smallest playable saxophone.
The concert, with piano accompaniment by Tom Prince, will feature a wide range of musical styles, from Bach to Schulze.
Part of the Edmonds Community College Concert Series, the recital is open to the public. The suggested donation of $7 benefits the college’s music scholarship programs.
