It’s a blood lab on wheels.
This weekend the Puget Sound Blood Center will show off the newest addition to its fleet of bloodmobiles. It will collect approximately 3,800 units of blood each year, which can help up to 11,400 patients.
The entire blood collection process, from donor screening to juice and cookies, takes place within the bus. Bloodmobiles are especially important to accommodate blood drives at locations that don’t have space for all the equipment needed to conduct a drive.
It was paid for by foundation grants, corporate and individual contributions, and everyone who participated in last year’s Swim for Life event.
You can tour the new bloodmobile at the Lynnwood Donor Center (19723 Highway 99) on Sunday, Sept. 12, between 2 – 4 p.m.
