New police dog headed to Lynnwood

At its March 25 business meeting, the City Council unanimously agreed to accept the donation of Police Canine Xato vom Osterfeld from the Lynnwood Police Officer’s Association.

With the death of Police Canine Vader, the department has been searching for a replacement canine. Several dogs were reviewed and tested and Police Canine Xato vom Osterfelt was determined to be a good fit for training. The Lynnwood Police Officer’s Association has the funds to purchase the dog.

The association has gathered funds from donations and community activities. The association has agreed to purchase the dog for a total cost of $9,231. There is no purchase cost to the city.
