The five members of the Edmonds School Board each raised their hands and collectively swore in Dr. Kris McDuffy as the district’s new superintendent during Tuesday night’s school board meeting.
Tuesday night was Dr. Nick Brossoit’s last school board meeting. A lawn chair with a tumbler cup and straw, sunscreen and magazine were presented under a tree to Brossoit for his retirement.
McDuffy will take over the superintendent’s position starting July 1. Her first school board meeting will be on July 12 (there is only one school board meeting in July).
Brossoit announced his retirement late last year after serving the district for 12 years. McDuffy was selected for the position earlier this year.
