Nick of Time Foundation logoIn response to the death of a Meadowdale High School student last September, The Nick of Time Foundation will provide comprehensive heart screenings to the first 500 youth who register for the test.

The screenings will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 12, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Meadowdale High School, 6002-168th St. S.W. in Lynnwood. Screenings will be made available for anyone 12-24 years old, regardless of school enrollment, for a $25 tax-deductible donation to the Nick of Time Foundation. To register, send a Heart Health Survey available here to Sue Burns atburns@edmonds.wednet.edu. You can find further registration information here.

The Foundation already has over 100 local medical volunteers from UW Medicine, Seattle Children’s, Swedish/Edmonds, Providence, Group Health and other medical facilities confirmed to help with the screening.

Meadowdale High School junior Matthew Truax died at the school on Sept. 13 of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, a condition that causes sudden cardiac arrest in young people.
