South County Fire marshals are investigating a fatal two-alarm Lynnwood apartment fire that killed one woman and seriously injured a man and a boy Saturday morning.

The man and the boy had escaped the fire before firefighters arrived, South County Fire spokesperson Leslie Hynes said. Both had serious injuries and were transported by ambulance to Harborview Medical Center, where they are now in stable condition. No one else was injured.

South County Fire crews responded around 10:50 a.m. after multiple callers to 911 reported smoke and flames coming from the Lynnwood Townhouse apartments in the 6700 block of 196th Street Southwest. It’s the same apartment complex where a fire claimed the lives of two children in 2019.

The fire damaged three apartments in an eight-unit building. All residents of the building – at least 20 people – were displaced and received assistance from Red Cross and Support 7, Hynes said.
