One in custody, three injured in five-car collision on Interstate 5 north of Lynnwood

A 44-year-old Bothell man was arrested and booked into Snohomish County Jail following a five-vehicle crash on Interstate 5 just north of Lynnwood Sunday that injured three.

The man, suspected of driving while intoxicated, is under investigation for vehicular assault because one of the victims involved in the collision sustained a broken leg, said Washington State Patrol Trooper Heather Axtman.

According to the state patrol, two victims riding in the same vehicle — a 26-year-old Marysville woman and a 22-year-old Snohomish woman — were transported to Swedish Edmonds Hospital. The third victim, a 38-year-old woman in a separate vehicle, was reported to have transported herself from the scene to Swedish Mill Creek.

No additional details about the crash, which occurred at 6:19 p.m. Sunday, were immediately available, Axtman said.

WSP detectives are seeking additional witnesses that may have information regarding the collision. Email or call Detective Charles Sletten at 360-654-1144 or
