Police are searching for the driver who hit and killed a pedestrian Thursday night, then left the scene. It happened about 10:30 p.m. on Highway 99 near 172nd.

Witnesses say the driver of a silver Lexus hit the man in the southbound lanes, then made a U-turn and took off going northbound.

The car is believed to have significant front-end damage, including a broken windshield.

The pedestrian was taken to Harborview with critical injuries, where he later died.

Highway 99 was closed for more than three hours during the investigation.
