Hundreds of T-ball, softball and baseball players gathered on the baseball diamond at Lynndale Park Saturday morning for Pacific Little Day. Players participated in contests and relays, followed by the Parade of Players, emceed by KING 5 reporter and Pacific Little League parent Chris Ingalls.
The league, which includes players from both Edmonds and Lynnwood, also celebrated special guests, including Lynnwood Mayor Nicola Smith and Edmonds Mayor Dave Earling. Since it was Earling’s birthday, Smith led the crowd in a rousing rendition of “Happy Birthday to You,” after which Earling threw out the ceremonial first pitch. Pacific Little League President Brad Sturgill also recognized Lynn Sordel, Eric Peterson and Rob Holman from the City of Lynnwood Parks and Recreation Department for their work in maintaining the Little League fields.
Pacific Little League this year has 68 baseball and softball teams that involve 800 players. Thanks to sponsorships from 39 local businesses, all players can participate regardless of financial circumstances.
