Prep boys basketball: Royals notch second victory of season with win over Stanwood

The Lynnwood Royals earned their second win of the year Wednesday night, a 58-54 victory over the visiting Stanwood Spartans at Lynnwood High School.

With the win, the Royals are 2-1 in 2A/3A Wesco League play early in the 2018-2019 season.

Wednesday’s victory came after Lynnwood yielded 24 points to Stanwood in the first quarter but only 30 to the Spartans in the remainder of the contest.

Jerry Boston led the Royals in scoring with 16 points; Gabe Newsom added 12 points while Jayden Acosta-Newcome contributed 11 points in the win.

Stanwood’s Cort Roberson had a game-high 18 points while teammate Jake Cleary scored 14 points.
