Senior running back Anthony Hooker rushed for 183 yards and two touchdowns in the Lynnwood Royals’ 21-7 victory over the Mountlake Terrace Hawks at Edmonds District Stadium Friday night.
The Royals improve to 3-3 on the season and the Hawks fall to 1-5.
The Hawks started strong on defense when senior Cole Waldrop-Leathers intercepted a pass from senior Royal quarterback Julius Heudorf. The Hawks failed to score on the drive and turned the ball over on downs.
Both teams traded long drives but ultimately could not find the endzone. Hooker scored his first touchdown on the final drive of the first half, giving the Royals a 7-0 lead.
Lynnwood increased its lead ro 14-0 on a long throw from Heudorf to wide receiver Pavin Soumpholphakdy.
The Hawks tried to get the offense going by through sophomore running back Zaveon Jones. Jones had 140 yards rushing and the lone touchdown of the game for Mountlake Terrace.
Waldrop-Leathers intercepted Heudorf a second time and sophomore Logan Tews added a third interception in the defeat.
The Hawks’ final game of the season is Friday, Oct. 22 at Edmonds Stadium vs. the Edmonds Woodway Warriors. Kick off is 5 p.m.
The Royals’ final game will also be Friday, Oct. 22 at Edmonds Stadium against the Meadowdale Mavericks, with kick off at 8 p.m.
