Some new talent is giving a boost to a Lynnwood girls swim team that graduated many of its top performers from last season.
Junior Mikayla Coglis has emerged as the Royals’ faster swimmer. She is an all-around talented swimmer, who is doing well in the 200 individual medley, according to Lynnwood coach Cari Nebel.
The other newcomer is freshman Jane Schultz, a sprinter and butterfly standout.
A key returner is sophomore Gia Nguyen, a district qualifier.
Those three individuals likely will form the core of a solid relay team.
Overall numbers are a little down from last year but 24 swimmers still is a robust number for the Royals.
“It’s down a little bit from last year,” Nebel said. “Last year we had a big team.”
