Meadowdale Maverick senior Morgan Rood finished her prep golf career Wednesday by placing 22nd in a field of 79 golfers competing in the WIAA 3A State Girls Golf Championship in Spokane.
Rood shot a final round score of 85 on Wednesday at Indian Canyon Golf Course to move ahead of eight competitors she had been trailing after Tuesday’s first round.
Rood was the only Edmonds School District prep golfer to qualify for the final day of 3A state golf competition.
The 3A state girls’ team title went to the Southridge (Kennewick) Suns, who placed three golfers in the top 25. The individual champion was Central Kitsap’s Brittany Kwon, who posted a two-day total score of 150. Kwon also had the tournament’s low round, a 73 on Wednesday.
