The Stanwood Spartans took advantage of a foul-plagued Lynnwood Royals squad, defeating the Royals 66-59 in a Wesco League matchup played Tuesday at Stanwood High School.
Four Royals — Katelyn Kesinger, Nakia Boston, Madison Steele and Amayah Kirkman — fouled out in the decisive fourth quarter when the Spartans outscored Lynnwood 22-9 to grab the advantage and eventually the win.
Lynnwood had led by as many as 20 points in the second quarter. But Stanwood took over the lead at 54-53 with 4:26 to go in the game on a pair of free throws by senior Madison Chisman and stretched their advantage to seven points by the final buzzer.
In other Lynnwood sports results from Tuesday, the boys swim team were sunk 128-48 by the Shorecrest Scots in a Wesco League meet held at the Shoreline Pool.
