Lynnwood’s Jordyn Edwards won a pair of individual events and also helped the Royals’ 1,600-meter relay team to a first place finish at the 3A District 1 girls track and field championships Friday night at Shoreline Stadium.
Edwards won the 200 (25.91 seconds) and 400 (55.54) and anchored the 1,600 relay team, which included teammates Mikayla Pivec, Cassidy Odell and Rita Sakharov. The four clocked in with a time of 3:57.31. Pivec, who won the 1,600 on Wednesday, captured the 800 (2:13.69). Sakharov won the 300 hurdles (46.03) and Malia Pivec coasted to a first place finish in the 3,200 with a meet record time of 10:40.82. Lynnwood’s 800 relay team of Natalie Brown, Sakharov, Odell and Edwards was third (1:47.02). The Royals finished fourth in the team competition behind Arlington, Mountlake Terrace and Glacier Peak.
Meadowdale’s Christapherson Grant took first in the 110 high hurdles (14.76) and the 300 hurdles (38.40). Teammate Harry White was second in the 110 high hurdles (15.67) and third in the 300 hurdles (39.79). Lynnwood’s Harold Williams II won the 200 (23.04). Lynnwood’s Tyler McArthur took second in the high jump on Wednesday.
The top three finishers in the individual events and relays advance to the 3A state track and field championships May 28-30 at Mount Tahoma High School.
