Prep wrestling gallery: Edmonds-Woodway tops Mavs in Thursday match

The undefeated Edmonds-Woodway Warriors moved one step closer to a fourth consecutive Wesco South title wrestling crown defeating Meadowdale 58-8 Thursday night.

Warrior coach Brian Alfi gave the Mavericks a lot of credit for coming ready to compete saying. “First year Coach Josh Knowles had his team ready for the rivalry match and wrestled aggressively. There were a lot of close matches that didn’t reflect the overall score. We had a good group of seniors that were ready to match the Mavs’ intensity.”

The Warriors’ record goes to 4-0 in conference and 7-0 overall. Meadowdale fell to 2-1 in conference and 4-3 overall. The Wesco South title will be decided when the Warriors take on Shorewood at home Jan. 23.
