Applications are now being accepted for the Randy Terlicker Memorial Aquatics and Life Safety Scholarship. It’s open to anyone who wants to further their training and education in aquatics, life safety or related fields.
The scholarships will be awarded based on the following criteria: a commitment to high standards of excellence, a desire to improve self and the community, letters of recommendation and completion of a written application. For an application and brochure, go to the Lynnwood Parks and Recreation website or contact the Lynnwood Recreation Center at 425-670-5732.
The scholarship was established in memory of Randy Terlicker, a Seattle firefighter who died in the Pang warehouse fire in 1995. Randy was the Lynnwood Aquatics Supervisor from 1988 to 1990. He became a Seattle firefighter in 1990 but continued to teach water safety classes for the city of Lynnwood. A memorial plaque and blue spruce tree were dedicated in October 1995 at the Lynnwood Recreation Center in Randy’s honor.
