Crews building the new Lynnwood Recreation Center are about to reach another milestone. They’re almost done with the overflow parking lot across the street from the facility.
Paving and striping in the parking lot at the corner of 44th Avenue West and 188th Street SW were recently finished. Sidewalks and lot entrances will be next, followed by installation of the irrigation system and light poles. This work is expected to be completed next month.
The new design will feature a berm and rain garden on the west side of the lot. New plantings will include yellow twig dogwoods, Oregon grape, dwarf blue willow and Pacific wax myrtle in addition to a variety of trees including Hogan cedars, Douglas firs and ‘October Glory’ red maples.
The new rec center is expected to be completed in spring 2011.
My favorite tree in Lynnwood was cut down for this!!!!
Who ever designed the entrance/exit on 188th should be fired. The in/out on that side is going to bottleneck already crowded 188th north bound.
Heaven forbid what will happen if a fire dept. gets a call going up 188th and is stuck behind someone entering and leaving that tiny entrance and the subsequent right turn just inside the parking lot.
Poor planning as usual and no one at the City enforcing how our tax dollars are spent.
