Reminder: City to hold public hearing on proposed sale of property to Edmonds School District on Monday, Feb. 24

The Lynnwood City Council will hold a public hearing in the Council Chambers at 7 p.m., Monday, Feb. 24, for the purpose of taking testimony on the city’s proposed sale of real property to the Edmonds School District.

The city is proposing the sale of real property located in the City Center-Core zone at the southwest corner of 196th Street Southwest and the I-5 southbound on-ramp and the northwest corner of Alderwood Mall Blvd and the I-5 southbound on-ramp to the Edmonds School District. The properties consisting of Snohomish County Tax Parcel Nos. 00372600700201, 00372600700400 and 00372600700100 total approximately 0.78 acre.

The property was acquired by the city following City Council approval in 1998 for the construction of the I-5 and 196th St. SW Interchange project. Following the construction of the Interchange, the City was left with remnant parcels with limited standalone utility and access.

The Edmonds School District desires to acquire the city’s adjacent remnant parcels for the purpose of site assemblage to facilitate future redevelopment of their vacant property to commercial and multi-family housing uses consistent with City Center development regulations.

At the time and place stated above, all interested parties will be heard. All interested persons are invited to be present and offer any comments they may have regarding the proposal.
