Reminder: Verdant Healthier Community Conference Feb. 29

Registration is now open for the Verdant Healthier Community Conference, which will be held on Monday, Feb. 29 at the Lynnwood Convention Center.

The conference will bring together several of the region’s leading experts in health, wellness and community building.

“We want to inspire health and wellness in every aspect of one’s life, from family to work to the larger community,” Carl Zapora, superintendent of the Verdant Health Commission, said.

Dr. Wendy Sue Swanson is the breakfast keynote of the conference. She is a pediatrician at Seattle Children’s Hospital and author of the popular “Seattle Mama Doc” blog.

Bob Drewel, of WSU North Puget Sound at Everett, will MC the event. Keynote addresses will be given by the Verdant Health Commission and a panel of experts on personal, workplace and community health.

Participants can also attend four of 12 breakout sessions that will cover topics on personal and family health, workplace and group health and the health of the community as a whole.

“The idea is to give people the tools so they can make positive changes, improving their health while also sharing ideas so we can support one another,” Zapora said.

The conference costs $49 per person and includes a healthy breakfast and lunch. Scholarships are available. You can learn more about the conference at the Verdant Health Commission’s website.
