Royals sports roundup: Baseball beats Cedarcrest, softball loses to Everett


The Lynnwood Royals baseball and softball teams were on opposite ends of shutouts on Tuesday, with the baseball squad picking up a victory while the Lady Royals were getting blanked.

Josh Latimer pitched a complete-game five-hitter as the Royals defeated the Cedarcrest Red Wolves 6-0 in Wesco League South Conference action at Lynnwood High School. Latimer struck out 10 in the effort; the senior helped his own cause at the plate too, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

The win was the first for the Royals in Wesco League South Conference play after going 5-1 to start the season. Lynnwood is currently ranked No. 9 in the statewide 3A baseball poll by

On the softball diamond, Everett’s Jackie Rookaird threw a five-inning no-hitter as the Seagulls beat the Lynnwood Royals 11-0 at Lincoln Field in Everett. Rookaird struck out 13 Royals in the mercy-rule shortened game.
