The Edmonds School District might cut police officers at its high school campuses, including Lynnwood High.
According to a story in the Everett Herald, the district is considering eliminating its school resource officer program, which would save $200,000 in next year’s budget. Officers also would be cut from Edmonds-Woodway, Meadowdale and Mountlake Terrace high schools.
As we reported last month, school officials are trying to cut more than $6 million from the budget due in large part to a lack of state funding.
The Herald says the deputy assigned to Lynnwood High was the same officer who tracked down four teenagers suspected of arson at a nearby home two weeks ago.
