School supply drive for needy kids is under way

School supplies and cash donations are now being accepted for needy students in the Edmonds School District.

The Back-to-School Resource Fair is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, Aug. 18 at Cedar Valley Community School in Lynnwood.  At the fair, low-income families can receive school supplies, haircuts and information about support services and opportunities within our community.

Donations can be made at the following locations:

  • Lynnwood Police Department (19321 44th Ave. W.)
  • Windermere Alderwood (Alderwood Mall Blvd/Alderwood Mall Pkwy)
  • Windermere Edmonds (5th and Dayton, Edmonds)
  • Windermere Lynnwood (44th/ Alderwood Mall Pkwy)
  • Lynnwood Library (44th/192nd)
  • Edmonds School District Office (20420 68th Ave. W.)
  • Lynnwood Honda (220th & Highway 99)

School supplies and monetary donations can also be mailed or dropped off at the Family Center, 6330 195th St SW, Lynnwood, WA 98036.

A donation of $10 will pay for a haircut. $25 buys supplies for a K-2nd grader and $50-$75 buys supplies for a 3-12th grader.

    I believe you have to register to receive supplies. The contact number for the Family Center is 425-670-8984 ext. 22. The event will be held Aug. 18 at Cedar Valley Community School.
