Today is the first day of classes in the Edmonds School District and that means the automated speed cameras in two school zones will be turned back on.
The cameras are located in front of Lynnwood Elementary on 44th Ave. W. and on 168th St. SW near Meadowdale High, Middle and Elementary schools, as well as Beverly Elementary.
They operate from 60 minutes before the start of school to 30 minutes after the start of school, and 30 minutes before the end of school to 60 minutes after. The city council amended the hours last year after drivers complained they were ticketed in the middle of the day when no children were present.
Fines are $124 for traveling 29 to 35 miles per hour and $250 for driving more than 36 miles per hour.
Traffic cameras in Lynnwood have nothing to do with safety and everything to do with extorting more money from it’s citizens as well as those unfortunate people who make the mistake of attempting to patronize Lynnwood businesses. I’ve made sure that all of my family & friends and anyone else I hear with business in Lynnwood know that there are better places to spend their money and/or live, like Mukilteo who had to bow to the people’s will rather than King Mayor and the city council who have nothing better to do than pass laws about how long your lawn can grow & find ways to further cut public safety staff. No need to mention the law suits that have been quietly (and not so quietly) settled to keep women from telling the world about the sexist/racist treatment they’ve received at the hands of certain city officials – everyone knows about that.
LYNNWOOD – A GREAT PLACE TO STAY AWAY FROM!
Yes, I’m a Lynnwood citizen & homeowner but only because I can’t find anyone dumb enough to actually want to come and live here. I would have sold my home and left the Peoples Republic of Lynnwood long ago if the city I live in wasn’t so unattractive to anyone in the rest of the state/county/country.
I actually think that you might be insane! Enjoy!
