In honor Dr. Martin Luther King, high school and senior center volunteers are building a community garden in the open grassy area northeast of the Senior Center.
The garden is intended for older adults without space for gardening and for teens to learn how to garden. Plans for the garden include raised beds, waist-high boxes and gravel paths.
Volunteers are needed on MLK Day, Jan. 21. Activities include outside for building boxes and inside for the kitchen. Sign up at the front desk of the Senior Center, which is located at 19000 44th Ave. W.
The project is a partnership of the Lynnwood Senior Center, the United Way MLT Day of Service Committee, Lynnwood City Parks and the City of Lynnwood Public Works.
