Police are investigating an assault that took place early this morning at Serene Terrace mobile home park north of Lynnwood.

Snohomish County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a 911 call at 2:46 a.m. in the 14300 block of Admiralty Way. Initial reports said a man in his 50s was shot in the head. But as detectives interviewed witnesses and searched for evidence, they learned that he wasn’t shot.

Police say the victim answered his back door and there was some sort of struggle in which a shotgun was discharged. Medics treated him for injuries to the head before taking him to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. It’s unclear if he knew the attacker.

Deputies searched the area with a K9 but they couldn’t find a suspect. No arrests have been made.
