A fire destroyed a treehouse last night in the same wooded area east of Lynnwood where five brush fires were set last month.

Neighbors in the 1100 block of 199th Street SW reported seeing flames just after 10:30 p.m. The fire was in a treehouse on a vacant lot next to a greenbelt.

Firefighters had the fire under control in about 15 minutes, but remained on the scene for more than an hour to extinguish hot spots in the surrounding vegetation.

Investigators believe the latest fire was intentionally set and is related to the earlier brush fires.

The woods are surrounded by homes. Last night’s fire was within 50 feet of a house.

Fire District 1 officials met with Hilltop area residents Aug. 22 to make them aware of the brush fires being set in their neighborhood.

“We want everyone to keep their eyes open for anything suspicious and to call 911  if they see something that can’t be reasonably explained,” said Leslie Hynes, spokesperson fire Fire District 1.
