Dental clinic on wheels is coming to Lynnwood

The SmileMobile is coming to Lynnwood next month.

It’s a mobile dental clinic that travels around the state providing services to children who don’t otherwise have access to dental care. The SmileMobile will be parked at Cedar Valley Community School (19200 56th Avenue West) from Dec. 6 – 17. Appointments must be made in advance by calling 425-431-7390.

The SmileMobile offers dental care to low-income children and students from birth (with teeth) through high school. There is no charge for children on DSHS Medicaid and there’s a sliding scale for those without Medicaid.

A full-time dentist and local volunteer dentists and their staff provide a range of services, from examinations and preventive services to fillings and minor oral surgery. Children with serious dental problems are referred for appropriate care.

The SmileMobile is operated by Washington Dental Service Foundation in partnership with Seattle Children’s Hospital. Since it first hit the road in 1995, the mobile clinic has treated more that 25,000 children throughout the state.

The foundation says dental decay is the single most common chronic disease of early childhood, five times more than asthma.
