The Snohomish Conservation District (SCD) honored Lynnwood resident Carol McMahon during its Better Ground Showcase on April 12.
McMahon won the Conservation Leader of the Year Award for her use of SCD cost-share program to install a rain garden in her front yard in 2013. In 2017, district officials were happy to hear that she had also expressed interest in being the recipient of free rain barrels for its partnership project with the City of Lynnwood.
The SCD installed four rain barrels on her house. In addition, she connected two other property owners on her street with the district, one of which ended up getting rain barrels as well.
“Carol is an enthusiastic neighborhood steward and she remains excited about green initiatives for her property,” said SCD spokeswoman Kari Quaas in a statement.
