Snohomish County Fire District 1 calls: April 3-9

my newsSnohomish County Fire District 1 responded to 320 calls the week of April 3-9: 253 emergency medical aid calls, 18 motor vehicle collisions, 16 fires, 11 service calls, 1 natural gas leak, 1 technical rescue and 20 automatic fire alarms.

April 3

FIRE: At 6:20 p.m., firefighters responded to a house fire reported in the 800 block of 124th Street SW south of Everett. The fire was contained to a mattress in an upstairs bedroom. Damage is estimated at $25,000. Investigators determined the fire was started by a child playing with a candle that ignited bedding.

April 4

FIRE: At 1:01 a.m., firefighters responded to a fire alarm sounding in an apartment in the 3800 block of 156th Street SW north of Lynnwood. The electrical fire was contained to a wall heater. No one was injured.

COLLISION: At 2:13 p.m., firefighters transported one patient to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital after responding to a collision on southbound Highway 99 near Lincoln Way north of Lynnwood.

COLLISION: At 2:57 p.m., firefighters responded to a two-car collision in the 24000 block of Highway 99 in Edmonds. Firefighters transported two patients to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital.

April 5

COLLISION: At 12:16 p.m., a car struck a bicyclist at the intersection of 1st Avenue West and 112th Street SW south of Everett. Firefighters transported the injured cyclist to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital.

COLLISION: At 12:49 p.m., a two-car collision was reported at 164th Street SW and 6th Avenue W east of Lynnwood. Firefighters transported one patient to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital.

April 6

COLLISION: At 2:06 a.m. firefighters responded to a two-car collision at 216th Street SW and Highway 99 in Edmonds. Both cars were heavily damaged. Five patients were transported to hospitals: two to Swedish/Edmonds, two to Northwest and one to Harborview Medical Center.

April 7

FIRE: At 7:21 p.m., firefighters responded to a balcony fire in the 15700 block of 44th Avenue W north of Lynnwood. The fire was contained to the deck and started in the area of a can that held discarded cigarette butts. No one was injured.

April 8

COLLISION: At 4:56 p.m., a two-car collision occurred on northbound I-5 south of 220th Street in Mountlake Terrace. Firefighters transported one patient to Swedish/Edmonds Hospital.
