Snohomish County PUD rates to increase in April

my newsSnohomish County PUD rates will increase for residential customers by 1.7 percent, effective April 1.

The rate increase for residential customers is less than the overall PUD rate increase of 1.9 percent.

PUD said that the rate increase covers system maintenance and improvements, ongoing modernization of the electrical grid, renewable energy projects and inflation.

The average residential customer will see bills increase by about $1.50 per month.

The PUD also is eliminating seasonal rates, so customers will pay the same consistent rate throughout the year.

The PUD also indicated that it is reviewing a move to monthly billing, which would help customers more easily budget expenses each month. Lower monthly bills also help customers stay on track with bill payments.

Monthly billing is standard for most utilities. More information about the issue will be provided in the coming months.
