Soundview hosts 15th annual Arts Festival on June 1

Soundview School will host its 15th annual Arts Festival from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, June 1.

The festival will feature games, food, art and a chance to give back to an arts-related charity.

Arts are integral part of the Soundview School International Baccalaureate curriculum, but Chris Watson, head of Soundview School, recognized that many schools are unable to afford arts programs.

“It is important for us to take this opportunity to not only celebrate the arts, but also give back to the arts community as a whole,” Watson said. “Arts Corps helps get art into areas where it may be lacking and we appreciate their efforts and want to support what they are doing.”

Attendees of the Arts Festival are asked to bring unused art supplies in exchange for a free turn at one of the booths. Arts Corps particularly needs good quality paper, water color paper (no bigger than 11” X 17″), paint, markers, glue and oil pastels.

Full price tickets are .50 each and activities and food range from 2 to 12 tickets. The festival will include activities for all ages, including live performances, art exhibits, food, crafts and games. Some of the specific games include: cake walk, lollipop tree,
