Spruce Elementary awarded statewide academic honor

The state has just recognized Spruce Elementary as one of the most improved schools in Washington.

During the past three years, the school scored in the top 10 percent of Title I schools in combined reading and math results on state assessments. It’s known as a “high performance Reward School.”

“Schools identified as Reward Schools have been doing the work that it takes to make a difference for students. School staff, students, parents and communities should be proud to join this distinguished group,” said State Superintendent Randy Dorn.

Title I provides financial assistance to schools with high numbers or high percentages of children from low-income families to help ensure that all children meet challenging state academic standards.
