State Patrol shoots man after he rams car

The Washington State Patrol said that troopers shot a man who rammed a car following a chase that started in Lynnwood and ended in Shoreline.

At about 11:50 p.m. on April 4, a Washington State Patrol Trooper assigned to Snohomish County was on patrol on SR-99 near 196th Street in Lynnwood. The state patrol said the trooper was attempting to stop a car for a lane travel violation. The driver did not stop at which time a pursuit began.

The pursuit continued south to 175th street, then west on 175th a few blocks where it ended near two homes at the end of 175th. Following the pursuit, one of the troopers vehicles was rammed by the suspect vehicle.  A second trooper (in his own patrol car) was with the initial pursuing trooper.

Following the pursuit both troopers fired at the suspect. The suspect then ran on foot a short distance before being taken into custody. The driver (suspect) was the only person in the vehicle.

The suspect was taken to Harborview Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the leg. The troopers involved in the shooting will be on administrative re-assignment as standard procedure.
